University of Gour Banga, Malda has been founded by the West Bengal Legislative Assembly vide West Bengal Act XXVI of 2007. The University Council as per Section 58(2) has come into effect from 26 May 2008 in Kolkata Gazette dated 28 May 2008. University has provide all general degree courses (B.A / B.Com / B.Sc. / B.B.A. / B.H.M. & Master Degrees) & Law and teachers training in Malda district, Uttar Dinajpur and Dakshin Dinajpur district. This time 34 affiliated colleges from the University in which 20 Colleges provide general degree courses, 12 colleges run B.Ed course, 01 college is provide B.P.Ed. and 01 College conduct 5 years B.A.LL.B course.
